In June 2006 Mr Bob Paterson BE (Civil)(Melb)(l949) of 7 Irymple Avenue, Glen Iris, Victoria, and his family donated the sum of $350,000 to establish a fund to provide scholarships for study in the faculty of Engineering (now Melbourne School of Engineering). The donor specified that the scholarships are to be awarded to Australian citizens who are enrolled or are to be enrolled in the first year of an undergraduate degree (or any future planned engineering degree course that may be developed) in the faculty of Engineering and who are in financial need, disadvantaged or have demonstrated academic merit in year 12 of secondary school.
