The sum of $6,673.00 was subscribed by friends, associates and former students of Professor Emeritus C. M. Tattam, formerly head of the school of Geology, to commemorate his contribution to the University and his devotion to the teaching and guidance of students during twenty three years of service in the University, until his retirement in 1968. The subscribers agreed that the money be applied, in the first instance, to the funding of a scholarship to be known as the "C. M, Tattam Scholarship".
