Viola Allan, Music Teacher, of Horsham in the State of Victoria who died on 16 September 1971, devised and bequeathed the whole of her estate to one Dorothy Hill, also of Horsham. Dorothy Hill, on 4 May 1973, presented to the University the sum of $2,000 for the purpose of founding a scholarship to be known as 'the Allan Scholarship' in memory of Viola Allan for the encouragement of the study of the piano.
