Emily Florence Selwyn-Smith, late of South Yarra who died on 10 July 1959, by her will dated 29 March 1955, subject to a life interest in her estate to her sister Madeleine Ethel Selwyn-Smith which has now determined, bequeathed to the University a share in the residue of her estate for the purpose of "providing a prize for medical research to be known as the Selwyn-Smith Prize". The University received the sum of $6,963 in satisfaction of the bequest.
