The sum of $20,000 was presented to the University by Gweneth Wisewould, Medical Practitioner, of Trentham, a graduate of the University of Melbourne, for the purposes of providing scholarships for the higher education of any person who is descended from an aboriginal native of Australia to be known as the 'Truganini Scholarships'.
