Summary

The Melbourne Medical Postgraduate Committee gave in January 1962 the sum of £10,000, which it had received from an anonymous donor, to the University for the establishment of a fund to provide a scholarship to enable persons with medical qualifications to pursue research or higher studies in the fields of Medicine or Surgery or both. It was the wish of the donor that the scholarship should be named in honour and memory of the late Sir Gordon Gordon-Taylor, a great British surgeon whose lifetime interest in Australia and Australian doctors advanced the standards of medicine and surgery in this country.
