- Summary
According to the University of Melbourne Calendar 1918, 'War Bursaries' were introduced in 1917 to 'entitle the Bursar to remission of the annual fees payable to the University'. The conditions of these bursaries were then amended to take into account any later conflicts, with the University of Melbourne Calendar 1944 noting that bursaries were available to the "the son or daughter of a person who died on service with the Australian Expeditionary Forders in the war of 1914-19" or a deceased person who was previously on a war disability pension. The bursaries were also available to the children of those serving in the armed forces during the Second World War. Residents of Victoria were eligible to apply for these bursaries, which were awarded for the duration of a University course. The bursaries were revoked in 6 November 2000.
