Brigadier Harold Edward Cohen, CMG, CBE, DSO, VD, of Melbourne, donated £1,500 to the University, establishing the 'Freda Cohen Prize'. 'The prize is awarded annually in March to the candidate who submits the most meritorious thesis for assessment for the degree of master of Education during the preceding year.' The prize was made a University regulation in 1943.
