The late Frances Katharine McKenzie Curdie bequeathed £1,000 to the University for the purpose of establishing 'The Daniel Curdie Scholarship' in memory of her father. 'The scholarship is open to competition to students enrolled in either a research training program in the master of Science, a postgraduate diploma in Science, the honours year of a bachelor of Science degree or a research higher degree in Science', with preference 'given to an eligible student who is, or will be, resident in Ormond College.' The scholarship was made a University regulation in 1939.
