By his will dated 20 April 1911, Thomas Thomson Dick late of Doreen, Doctor of Medicine, bequeathed the whole of his residual estate to the University for the purpose of establishing 'The Dick Bursaries'. Each bursary is awarded to enrolled students at the University who are 'of good character' and can demonstrate that 'their financial circumstances are such that the award of a bursary would be a financial relief to them.' The bursaries were made a University regulation in 1932.
