By her will, the late Mary Anna Bartlett of Geelong bequeathed the residue of her estate to the University for the purpose of establishing the 'M.A. Bartlett Research Scholarships'. Each scholarship of £100 is awarded each year by the Council of the University 'on such contidtions and tenable for such time and for such purposes as may be determined by the Council for the encouragement of research in such studies as they shall decide'. The scholarship fund was made a University regulation in 1930.
