- Summary
By her will dated 2 May 1919, Bessie Thompson, widow of David Thompson, late of Castlemaine, bequeathed £500 to the University for the purpose of establishing the 'David Thompson Scholarship'. A scholarship is awarded annually 'to a student undertaking a course of study which includes subjects in the field of Engineering', with preference 'given to the sons of residents of Castlemaine'. The scholarship was made a University regulation in 1926.
