Mrs W.G. Sharp, widow of the late William George Sharp of Melbourne, timber merchant, presented to the University the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of founding the 'William George Sharp Bursary' in memory of her late husband. 'The bursary is awarded to a student enrolled in the course for the degree of doctor of Medicine'. The bursary was made a University regulation in 1925.
