By her will, the late Mrs Annie Wilson, widow of the late R.G. Wilson merchant of Melbourne, bequeathed £2,000 to the University for the purpose of establishing the 'R.G. Wilson Scholarships'. One scholarships is 'awarded annually to the best student enrolled in a third-year course in History in the academic unit responsible for the discipline of History' and 'three scholarships [are] awarded annually to the best honours students enrolled in the faculty of Arts'. The scholarship fund was made a University regulation in 1925.
