- Summary
By his will dated 28 July 1884, the late William Thomas Mollison bequeathed £5,000 to the University. This sum was to be invested in Government securities of the Australian Colonies or could be reinvested, with the annual income of the trust used to establish a scholarship fund, called the 'W.T. Mollison Scholarship Fund'. The fund supports the 'W.T. Mollison Scholarship' which provides one or more annual scholarships to candidates studying a modern language. The scholarship fund was made a University regulation in 1888 (University of Melbourne Calendar, 1975).
