On 15 December 2016 the University received a donation of $1,200,000 from an anonymous donor for the purpose of establishing 'The Class of 1976 Scholarship Fund' as a way to celebrate 40 years since they completed secondary school. The fund will provide one scholarship per calendar year 'for students who have Australian citizenship or Australian permanent residency and are accepted into undergraduate degrees at the University of Melbourne.' 'Preference… will be given to applicants who have completed high school at Noble Park Secondary College'. The scholarship fund was made a University regulation in 2017.
