In 2011 Ms Denise De Gruchy donated $500,000 to the University. The donor requested that $350,000 be 'used to refurbish the Medical History Museum' and the remaining $150,00 be used to establish 'The Carl de Gruchy Medical History Scholarship Fund'. The fund supports 'The Carl de Gruchy Medical History Scholarship' which is awarded to a student or students enrolled at the University who are 'undertaking studies and/or research involved the history of medicine'. The scholarship fund was made a University regulation in 2017.
