By a memorandum of gift dated 24 June 2015, Dr Robert M. Cook AM and Mrs Gillian Cook donated $500,000 to the University, establishing the 'Robert and Gillian Cook Family Award Trust'. The trust supports the 'Robert and Gillian Cook Family Award' which encourages 'students to pursue postgraduate educational opportunities related to the area of oral and maxillofacial surgery research and education at the Melbourne Dental School, or its successor'. The University determines and manages the selection process, including the establishment of a selection committee, and also has the deciding vote over the selection of the award recipients. The trust was made a University regulation in 2016.
