Dr Betty Rosina Elliot, who died on 20 March 2014, bequeathed to the University $250,000, establishing the 'Dr Betty Elliot Horticulture Scholarship'. Each scholarship is awarded to 'post graduate students with academic ability and financial need to undertake research into sustainability in Horticulture'. The scholarship was made a University regulation in 2016.
