Summary

By a memorandum of gift dated 29 January 2015, Betty Thornton donated $250,000 to the University, establishing 'The Warren Thornton Memorial Scholarship' in memory of her late brother George Warren Thornton. Each scholarship 'is awarded to one of more students undertaking studies in agriculture at the University, with preference to be given to undergraduate students, from the Goulburn Valley and with an interest in pursuing a career in the dairy industry'. Applications for the scholarship are assessed by the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences committee responsible for scholarships. The scholarship was made a university regulation in 2015.
