Summary

By a memorandum of gift dated 23 June 2014, Dr Anne Brooks of East Melbourne ('donor'), ophthalmologist, stated her intention to give the sum of $100,000 to the University for the purpose of establishing 'The Nancy Lewis Scholarship' in memory of her mother. Each scholarship is awarded annually to 'a medical student/s enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent at the Melbourne Medical School, University of Melbourne'. The scholarship is 'awarded based on academic excellence, financial need, and sustained involvement while at university in a significant extra‐curricular activity such as sport or music'. The scholarship was made a University regulation in 2015.
