Summary

By a memorandum of gift dated 24 June 2014, James O Perkins, MA, PhD Camb, MCom Melb, economist, stated his intention to give the sum of $600,000 to the University by instalments, for the purpose of establishing 'The Jim Perkins PhD Travelling Scholarship'. The scholarship is 'open for award annually to one or more students undertaking a PhD in economics in a subject matter of relevance to both the UK and Australia, at either one of the Russell Group Universities of the UK (with a preference for the University of Cambridge), or the University of Melbourne'. The scholarship was made a University regulation in 2014.
