By a memorandum of gift dated 19 December 2013, Rex Haswell Williamson BSc Melb (1945), MSc Melb (1947), PhD Leeds (1949), donated two instalments of $50,000 to the University in 2014, for the purpose of establishing the 'Dr Rex Williamson and Family Scholarship'. Each scholarship is awarded to 'a student or students undertaking the degree of Master of Science in organic chemistry' and is based on 'academic results achieved in the third year of the Bachelor of Science degree'. The scholarship was made a University regulation in 2014.
