By a memorandum of gift dated 10 March 2014, Carol Margaret Coyle stated her intention to donate 1,177 ordinary shares in the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, to the approximate value of $85,000, to the University for the purpose of establishing 'The Graham Coyle Award' in memory of her husband. The award is presented 'to one or more contemporary music students studying at any level who play the piano, with a preference for specialisation in jazz or improvisation.' The awards are also made 'on the basis of the student's merit and financial disadvantage' at the discretion of the Head of the School of Contemporary Music. The award was made a University regulation in 2014.
