By her will dated 20 April 1998, the late Grace Ella Fraser bequeathed one eleventh of her residuary estate to the University, establishing 'The Grace Ella Fraser Scholarship'. Each scholarship is awarded 'to undergraduate cello students' enrolled in the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM) 'who have outstanding talent and are in financial need.' The scholarships are awarded by the dean of the faculty of Fine Arts and Music, on the recommendation of the director of the MCM. The scholarship was made a University regulation in 2013.
