By his will dated 8 April 2000, the late Francis Keenan, MBE, (Hons) BAppSci(Hort) Melb, horticulturalist and parks administrator, bequeathed one‐fifth of his residuary estate to the University, establishing 'The Frank Keenan Scholarships Fund'. The scholarship is awarded to a student or students at the Burnley Campus on the basis of academic merit as determined by a select committee appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Science. Each scholarship is available to a student enrolled in the study of amenity and/or ornamental horticulture. The fund was made a University regulation in 2010.
