Dr Wertheim, late of 94 Leopold Street, South Yarra, Victoria, who died on 23 November 2000 bequeathed to the University one third of the residue of her estate as follows: "I GIVE AND BEQUEATH one third part or share thereof to the University OF MELBOURNE to establish a Trust Fund for the creation of a Scholarship to be known as "Eleanor and Joseph Wertheim Scholarship" for unmarried, widowed or divorced women over the age of 25 years in difficult circumstances to assist them to pursue undergraduate or graduate courses in the said University.'
