On 21 January 2005, Mr Adrian Newton of 3 Lebanon Street, Strathmore, Victoria, donated the sum of $15,000 to establish the Dr Sue Newton Scholarship in memory of his wife who died on 12 March 2003. The Scholarship is to reward scientific achievement by assisting postgraduate students in the faculty of Veterinary Science to travel overseas to present their research at international conferences or to gain experience in research laboratories.
