The faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning held a limited appeal in 2003 to establish a prize commemorating Professor Frederick Ledgar MA (Manch. and Melb), PJiD (Manch.), Victoria's first Professor of Town and Regional Planning and dean of the faculty of Architecture Building and Planning from 1973 until 1979. The appeal raised the sum of $57,254.13. The net annual income of the fund is to be used to provide The Ledgar Prize in Urban Planning awarded to the student who receives the highest aggregate mark over the four years of the course for the degree bachelor of Urban Planning and Development.
