In 1995 Mr Charles Hart of Holland Park West, Queensland, gave $25,000 to establish a scholarship in memory of his godmother Miss Jessie Joyce Wood who died in 1994. Miss Wood was for many years (c1935 to c1975) cartographer in the department of Economic Geography. Due to contributions amounting to $3,000 from Mrs Sandra Speirs of Horsham, a niece of Miss Wood, and further contributions from Mr Hart amounting to $5,000 the fund had increased to $33,000 at 1 June 2001. In April 2003 Mr Charles Hart had donated a further sum of $ 1,000.
