Mrs Madeleine Grace Hearly, who was also known as Madeleine Grace Orr, an actress of 2 Merton Avenue, Elwood, Victoria and also of 343 Kensington High Street, London, United Kingdom who died on 29 June 1979 bequeathed to the University, subject to a life interest, one third of the proceeds of the sale of the property Unit 2, 684 Hawthorn Road, Brighton East. The bequest was 'to the CONSERVATORIUM OF MUSIC OF THE University OF MELBOURNE with the direction that the same be applied for the purposes of providing a Scholarship to be known as THE MADELEINE ORR SCHOLARSHIP for a student of such Conservatorium of Music of the said University OF MELBOURNE in piano forte'.
