Mrs Christine Elizabeth Edmonds of Narre Warren, Victoria, a science graduate of the University gave to the University in 2000 the sum of $300,000. The sum was to establish a scholarship open to postgraduate students in Agriculture to be known as The Alton Gould Edmonds Scholarship in memory of the donor's late husband, a graduate in agriculture of the University. The donor directed that part of the capital be used to provide a scholarship in 2001.
