Mrs Elizabeth Bemaldo Puzey of 397 Toorak Road, South Yarra in the State of Victoria, by an Agreement dated 5 September 1992 gave her home to the University subject to her retaining a life interest. Following Mrs Puzey's death on 3 February 1994 the University was unable to sell the property. The University subsequently leased the property and the net rental currently forms the income of the Elizabeth and Vernon Puzey Foundation No. 1. The income of the Foundation is applied, as equally as may be possible, between the faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Science, the faculty of Science and the faculty of Engineering, to provide postgraduate scholarships and fellowships in medical research, science and engineering in Australia.
