Vera Crowther Jennings, late of Aireys Inlet in the State of Victoria, a former lecturer in the University's department of English, bequeathed to the University the whole of her residuary estate and also devised to the University property at Aireys Inlet subject to a life interest which has not yet been extinguished. The testatrix requested in her will that the University found a scholarship, in memory of her late friend and colleague Amy Gaye Cowper Tennent, for postgraduate students of Literature in the department of English. The testatrix, in discussions with University staff members prior to her death, expressed the hope that, in appropriate circumstances, the award of the scholarship would enable scholars to travel abroad for the purposes of their studies.
