Mrs Josephine Singer donated to the University the sum of $100,000 to endow an award in commemoration of her late husband Eugen Singer who distinguished himself during his lifetime as a chemical engineer working in the field of precision engineering associated with the production and processing of polymers. The donor stipulated that the sum be invested in real estate or real securities and the net annual income derived therefrom be awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student of proven scholastic ability undertaking studies in the field of polymers who demonstrates need.
