Mary Fisher Meyer, late of 5 Avalon Road, Armadale, who died on 7 March 1975 bequeathed to the University the sum of $80,000 "to be applied by the said University as an endowment fund to provide out of the income derived therefrom a scholarship or scholarships to be called "The Felix Meyer Scholarship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology" to be awarded to a graduate of the said University "her stated object being" to give the successful graduate an opportunity by travel or otherwise after obtaining a degree to do postgraduate studies in these subjects and so promote the study and practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology".
