- Summary
The Mother Rectress of St. Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne, received from various persons the sum of £1,750 for the provision of a fitting memorial to the late John Gerald Hayden, formerly Professor of Medicine in the University and first Professor of Medicine appointed to St. Vincent's Hospital. The Mother Rectress presented the sum to the University and requested that the proposed memorial comprise a fellowship to enable graduates in Medicine to conduct research or undertake postgraduate studies in Medicine. Since receiving the original gift in 1962 further sums have been received from St. Vincent's Hospital and other parties.
