Summary

Ethel Selina Leon bequeathed £2,000 to the University, establishing the 'Samuel Leon Bursary in Medicine' in memory of her late father. Each bursary is awarded by the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, 'following consultation with the administrative unit responsible for student financial aid matters'. In their application, students must provide evidence that 'they are enrolled in the second year of the course for the degree of doctor of Medicine' and that 'their circumstances are such that they require financial assistance to continue the course'. The bursary was made a University regulation in 1952.
