By her will dated 17 July 1941, Dr Georgina Sweet, then Associate Professor of Zoology at the University, bequeathed three sums each of £7,500 to the University for the purpose of establishing 'The Georgina Sweet Fellowships' (now known as 'The Georgina Sweet Scholarships'). The fund supports three scholarships: The Georgina Sweet Fellowship in Economic Zoology, The Elizabeth Mary Sweet Fellowship in Medicine and The George Sweet Fellowship in Economic Geology. These scholarships are available to higher degree by research students in Zoology, Medicine and Geology. The fund and scholarships were made a University regulation in 1947.
