- Summary
'In July 1920, the University launched an appeal, through an advertisement in "The Argus", seeking donations to its general funds for the purpose of endowing the teaching and equipment of the University.' In order to perpetuate the memory of the donors of large sums to the Appeal Fund, in 1923 the University established commemorative exhibitions and scholarships bearing the names of these donors.
In May 1996 the original regulation was revoked and in July 1996 a new regulation was made to govern these exhibitions and scholarships. The University continued to commemorate these donors by listing their names in the schedule of twenty-four awards available to students through this regulation.
