By her will dated 25 January 1950, the late Sophie Godfrey Craig of Grove Street, Vermont, bequeathed two-sixths of her residuary estate to the University for the purpose of establishing the 'Robert Craig Exhibitions' in memory of her late father Robert Craig. The exhibitions were 'awarded annually to the candidate placed first in the final honours list in each of the subjects Law and Society in Malaysia and Current International Legal Problems' (University of Melbourne Calendar, 2000). The exhibition fund was made a University regulation in 1953 and were revoked on 7 October 2002.
